60 Seconds with Stephanie Cahoon
What is your role?
I have been the Operations Coordinator for 3 months in Acton. This is my first time working at an auditing firm. Presently I have receptionist duties, including answering the switchboard, and I also monitor the NQA Reports mailbox and perform non-aerospace conducting of reports for Regions 2 and 5.
What’s your most memorable moment at NQA?
Occasionally we have Auditors, Clients or Fellow employees who need to urgently get in touch with someone here in the office. When those calls come in I put the person on hold, and use the office paging system. Apparently my tone and choice of words amuses people here in the office, and the first time I paged, there was a burst of laughter. I have been told that some people look forward to my pages…
What’s your favourite thing about working for NQA?
This was the first company that I worked at which closed the office for a day and a half, while we attended our Conference in nearby Rhode Island. There are usually some kind of goodies brought into the kitchen like cookies, fruit or breakfast pastries. I also enjoy my fellow employees, we do a lot of laughing here.
What top tip would you give people looking at certification?
I recommend that anyone looking at certification should go to the NQA website and get as much preliminary information as possible. There is a lot to look at and take away such as information on the standards that we audit to, our locations around the world, downloadable guidance documents, videos, case studies and information about the high standards that we have here at NQA. There are also quote forms to fill out and submit which can help you to get in touch with the team and find out how much it might cost you.
How might you be able to help our readers?
If a client calls in looking for any information about their account I will direct them to their main point of contact, their CSR. If you are an auditor, I will load amended reports into the EQM database and conduct reports to get them to the next phase, file review or NCR process. It is a team oriented approach here, with lots of communication between departments.
