60 Seconds with Louise Orr

24 oktober 2018
Having been with the company for 11 years, Louise has spoken to us about what has kept her with NQA for so long and her suggestions for a successful audit outcome.

What is your role?

I have worked for NQA in Warwick house for 11 years in the finance department as an Accounts Clerk. My day-to-day tasks include processing all payments that come in to the office from our certification and training clients via BACS, cheques and credit cards. I am also responsible for raising and sending all audit and training invoices and closing outstanding payments. Overall I support the NQA admin team and help with any queries regarding the businesses finance matters.

Most memorable moment at work?

Every year I really look forward to the office Christmas parties and annual conference. It's a great chance to spend time with all our colleagues as many of them are not office based and so it's not often that we can all get together. It's also a positive opportunity to discuss the success of the company over the last year and learn of all the exciting opportunities and challenges we might face in the following 12 months.

Favourite things about working for NQA?

The family atmosphere! Because I have been here such a long time I have a good relationship with many people from all levels in NQA. It's a really friendly bunch and everyone is happy to help each other and spend their time working together to give the best possible service to our customers.

I am also impressed with the generosity of the company holiday scheme where you can accrue extra days for the length of service given to the company. It's a small gesture but it makes the difference and helps towards getting the work life balance correct which keeps me motivated.

Top tip for people looking at certification?

Before deciding on a certification body pull together a list of all the things that you require from your relationship with them. Know what you want and need to get the most benefit for your company.

I would also suggest buying a copy of the standard you're looking for and making sure your company is aware of all the requirements. We often hear from clients that investing in some Internal Auditor training beforehand comes in handy as it makes the auditing process easier and helps you to prepare beforehand.
