60 Seconds with Matt Barker

22 maart 2019
We would like to introduce Matt Barker who is a recent addition to the NQA family. He has taken the time to talk to us this month about what he enjoys about working in our Dunstable office and discusses his most memorable moments.

What is your role?

I work as part of the Operations Team as a Client Executive at the Head Office in Dunstable. My role is to complete a technical review of the audit reports once they have been submitted by our field team. I am also a main point of contact for any of our UK based clients and assessors to help with any questions they might have.

Most memorable moment at work?

Although I haven’t been here very long there have been a number of memorable moments, but the highlight came about at the last conference when I won the 'Best Newcomer' award. It was very unexpected and something I am very proud of.

Favourite things about working for NQA?

One of the things that I enjoy about being at NQA is the chance to study and work towards qualifications in a variety of areas. There is a great deal to learn and keeping up to date with evolving standards is an enjoyable challenge. I also really enjoy the social aspect of working with a friendly and supportive team who regularly meet up outside of work as well.

Top tip for people looking at certification?

Firstly, I think it’s important to have a credible certification body that is accredited to a high standard by an organisation such as UKAS or ANAB.  I would also say that it is essential to be as informed and up-to-date as possible. Our online training, workshops, coffee mornings and webinars are a great way to do this.

How might you be able to help our readers?

I am currently a technical reviewer for ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) and ISO 50001 (Energy), so if you have any questions in these areas or just in general then please feel free to get in touch as I would be more than happy to help.
