Meet the Team: 60 Seconds with David Quinn
In our latest 60 seconds, we sit down with David Quinn, our Business Development Manager, to learn more about his role, experiences and insights.
What is your role?
I am the Business Development Manager at NQA, working within the commercial department. My main responsibility is working with new and existing clients, focusing on how NQA and certification can add value to their organisations. Working with multi-site, multi standard clients can come with its challenges, I take a collaborative approach when working with my clients to ensure we provide the most suitable solutions for their needs. I truly enjoy this aspect of my role, meeting clients from various industries and backgrounds.
Most memorable moment at work
Although I have many years of experience in the certification industry, I’m relatively new to NQA. The welcome I received from the team and the wider company has been fantastic. Often, when you come from within the industry, there’s a tendency to ‘leave you to it,’ but that wasn’t the case here. Despite the fast-paced and ever-changing environment, I was impressed that the management and key stakeholders took time out of their schedules to personally meet with me.
Your favourite thing about working at NQA
The collaborative nature of the teams. No one is ever too busy to help. Whether it's the operations team assisting with a tricky audit schedule or the scheduling team finding dates a client urgently needs, everyone is ready to lend a hand.
What do you believe sets NQA apart from other certification bodies?
NQA strives to provide the best service possible while adding real value to organisations, whether through our auditing services or training programs. We’re large enough to manage complex, multi-site organisations but still maintain that personal touch. It’s easy to reach out and speak to someone directly when needed. Our team of auditors brings a wealth of industry-specific experience, allowing us to offer valuable insights and avoid a "one-size-fits-all" approach.
Top tip for people wanting to achieve certification
Do your research. ISO standards and certification can seem like a minefield of information at first. For example, UKAS is the national accreditation body recognised by the British government. If your company is looking to win tenders, you’ll have much more success with a UKAS-accredited certificate than a non-UKAS one.
That’s where NQA can help. As a UKAS-recognised certification body, we ensure that our services meet the highest standards. Beyond auditing, we offer a range of training courses and can connect you with consultants to help build your management system, if needed.
