Informing NQA about Reportable Incidents
06 June 2019
Did you know you need to inform us within 3 working days of the occurrence of a serious incident or breach of regulation necessitating the involvement of the competent regulatory authority such as the HSE if you are certified with us for Occupational Health and Safety?
It is a legal requirement to report all incidents, no matter how big or small, as well as ill health at work in line with RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013). However it is also a requirement of MD22:2018, in line with OHSAS 18001:2007/ ISO 45001:2018 when this has been reported that your certification body is also informed.
As a certification body we are obligated to assess this information and decide how to proceed further. Sometimes no action is needed until your next audit. Sometimes a special audit may be necessary if there has been a serious incident related to occupational health and safety, for example a serious accident or a serious breach of regulation, in order to investigate whether the management system has been compromised and establish whether it functioned effectively.
If you want to advise us of an incident, please email enquiries@nqa.com with the details of the Riddor/s raised and one of our team will be in contact.
For any other queries, please visit our Regulations Relating to Registration.
