The Latest Sustainability Developments

15 August 2024
See a round up of some of the exciting developments we expect to see within NQA and in the Sustainability sector...

⇒
In June, ISO announced the development of a Net Zero ISO standard.

It is expected to launch in November 2025 at COP30 and is being designed to provide a global solution to guide organisations as they embark on their net zero transition. This is a very exciting development and NQA will be at the forefront once the standard becomes available.

⇒   ISO 53001, the Management System standard for United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) continues to be under development and is now at working draft stage.

This is also a very exciting development and again NQA will be at the forefront once the standard becomes available, which is expected in 2025.

⇒   The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a policy to more fairly address the carbon responsibility for trading goods.

Organisations in and outside of the UK will be impacted if they meet the criteria and will commence reporting on the embedded greenhouse gas emissions for certain goods. CBAM will apply in its definitive regime from 2026, while the current transitional phase lasts between 2023 and 2025. An obvious link here is with ISO 14067, which NQA can also help with.

⇒   Many of you will have recently completed your ESOS Phase 3 submissions and will have noted the synergies between ESOS and carbon reporting.

Why not make good use of the energy data you have gathered for ESOS and use that to begin calculating your GHG emissions? NQA can help.

⇒   NQA’s PAS 2080 services are proving very popular.

Whilst National Highways have set a deadline of 31st December 2025 for their contractors and sub-contractors to comply, why not beat the inevitable rush, and begin your PAS 2080 journey by booking a place on our on-demand E-Learning now.

⇒   NQA have been busy with our ISO 20121 services for Events Sustainability Management Systems.

This has seen us out auditing at some major events including July’s Formula 1 at Silverstone, and the annual Global Offshore Wind Conference in Manchester. If you run events and would like to demonstrate your commitment to improving their sustainability, NQA can help
