An update is made to the Annex in Regulation (EU) No. 2017/2470 establishing the Union list of novel foods in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 2015/2283, to include reference for the authorisation of Yarrowia lipolytica yeast biomass* to be placed on the market as a novel food.
*Yarrowia lipolytica yeast biomass is mostly composed of proteins and fibre. It is proposed to be used as a food supplement in the form of capsules, tablets or powder.
