The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2019

These Regulations implement Directive 2017/2102/EU amending Directive 2011/65/EU on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE).

This change brings the majority of electrical equipment within the scope of the Regulations from 22nd July 2019. However, there are exclusions that apply to the following:

• Second hand sale of electrical equipment;

• The use of cables or spare parts for repair; and

• The use of reused spare parts.

Any electrical equipment, spare parts, and cables that were previously compliant with the Regulations prior to 22nd July 2019 will still be able to be resold or used for repair.
