Commission Regulation (EU) on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food

This Regulation amends Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. It amends Annex I and Annex III.

Plastic materials and articles that are amended by this regulation in use before 31st January 2019 (when this Regulation commences) may be placed on the market until 31st January 2020 and may remain on the market until exhaustion of stocks.

Annex I
Various tables in this Annex are amended to either replace entries concerning food contact materials (FCM) substances, to add restrictions on the FCM substances, to set out rules for testing for compliance with specific limits, and to provide a detailed specification on substances for FCM.

Annex III
Table 3 in Annex III is amended to correct an error and to clarify that row 3 is in relation to aqueous and alcoholic foods and milk products with a pH equal or greater than pH 4.5. Row 4 is amended to clarify it is in relation to aqueous and alcoholic foods and milk products with a pH less than 4.5.
