Who does this affect: England and Wales
When does this change take place: 5th March 2016
It amends the Planning Act 2008 in order state that onshore generating stations producing energy from wind are no longer to be considered as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. As a result, those wanting to develop onshore wind generating stations must now apply to the relevant local planning authority rather than the Secretary of State for permission.
