60 Seconds with Nigel Williams

11 August 2017
NQA Auditor Nigel Williams highlights the lack of understanding of the 2015 changes and how that could become an issue with transitions happening more frequently now.

WHAT STANDARDS DO YOU AUDIT?

ISO 9001:2008, ISO 9001:2015 (QMS),
ISO 14001:2004, ISO 14001:2015 (EMS) & EcoCampus,
OHSAS 18001:2007 (Health & Safety) & SSIP,
ISO 50001:2011 (EnMS)
NHSS 2a, 2b, 2c, 5a, 5b, 7, 8, 9a, 12a/b, 12c,
NHSS 12d, 13, 16, 17, 17b, 18, 19a, 22

MOST MEMORABLE AUDITING MOMENT

The huge satisfaction/relief on the faces of the Client Team from Amey (Forth Road Bridge-Scotland) once they passed/Issued with their Certification for (ISO 9001:2008, 14001:2004, and 18001:2007, NHSS 2a, 2b, 8, 12a/b, 12c, 12d, 17b and 18).

GREATEST CLIENT BENEFIT GAINED FROM ISO CERTIFICATION

Within the construction industry, it reduces the vast amount of form/paperwork completion required to be registered for new works (CHAS, PQQ, Frameworks etc) and Integrated ISO Certification is looked upon as a highly achievement/requirement by large Clients/Principal Contractors.

TOP TIP FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Constantly review your documented Management System, ensure that your system accurately reflects your Business Operations. With the impending New Updated ISO Systems to the 2015 standards it is vital for you to ensure that you document any Factors/conditions affecting your Business, determining the Buisiness Context (SWOT/PESTAL analysis) and the arising risks and opportunities etc.

MOST COMMON NON-CONFORMANCE

Nothing major, some minor typo errors, lack of understanding of the new 2015 standards could be an issue next year though.
