Management Systems

9001:2015

ISO 9001:2015 is the internationally recognised standard for quality management. It can be applied to all organisations of all sizes and sectors and provides a framework to help organisations improve their performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrate their commitment to quality. Its requirements define how to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve a quality management system (QMS).

Benefits of certification include enhanced customer confidence via robust quality control processes in place, leading to increased customer trust and satisfaction and effective complaint resolution; Process improvement: through identification and elimination of inefficiencies, reduced waste, streamlined operations, and promote informed decision-making, resulting in cost savings and better outcomes and finally Ongoing optimisation via regular internal audits and management reviews which enable organisations to continually refine their quality management systems, stay competitive, and achieve long-term success.

National Highways Sector Schemes (NHSS)

National Highways Sector Schemes (NHSS) are a suite of standards which compliment ISO 9001 for organisations working on the UK’s road network. They're based on the current ISO 9001:2015 framework and provide specific requirements and interpretation for the specific sector scheme including training, competency and quality plans.

NHSS certification is mandatory for all National Highways contract work specified in accordance with the Specification for Highways Works (SHW). If your organisation supplies services (including the supply of products) to National Highways under the SHW, you must hold NHSS certification for all the relevant schemes for the work you're contracted to undertake.

Where the SHW forms part of the contract documentation, an organisation carrying out works covered by a NHSS shall be registered to that NHSS unless stated otherwise in the contract.

You don't have to be registered to an NHSS where works are subcontracted. Any subcontractor used shall be registered to the relevant NHSS(s). The SHW does not empower an NHSS-certified contractor to provide an umbrella for a non-NHSS registered supplier to carry out all or part of the work.

BMTRADA current offer UKAS Accredited NHSS Certification to the following schemes:

NHSS 2A, 2B/5B, 2C, 4, 10B, 8, 7, 13, 16, 23, 30, 19A, 12A/B, 12C, 12D, 18 and 22

ISO 45001:2018

ISO 45001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system. It provides a framework for organizations to manage health and safety hazards, risks and improve OH&S performance.

ISO 45001 certification provides significant value to organisations aiming to reduce workplace incidents and demonstrate OH&S commitment. Benefits of ISO 45001 certification include:

A reduction in workplace injuries, illnesses and incidents by enabling organisations to systematically assess hazards and implement risk control measures;

Boosting organisation reputation, employee morale and retention by demonstrating that the organisation is committed to worker health, safety and wellbeing.

Ensuring the organisation is making a commitment to regulatory compliance  as the standard requires complying with OH&S regulations, ensuring legal conformity. The standard also promotes proactive risk management, potentially lowering insurance premiums.

Strengthened organizational resilience against safety threats and crises as the standard requires OH&S emergency preparedness and response protocols.

Safety Systems In Procurement (SSIP)

Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) is certification scheme that facilitates mutual recognition between health and safety assessment schemes in the UK. Mutual Recognition is an agreement across all SSIP members, mandating either mutual or non-mutual recognition among all member assessment schemes, such as ISO 45001 certification.

BM TRADA is a registered Certification Body member with SSIP.

SSIP certification means that your health and safety management processes have been evaluated and meet the HSE backed, SSIP Core Criteria. SSIP certification helps organisations avoid undergoing multiple assessments and multiple initial health and safety vetting when they are bidding for work, reducing cost, saving time and simplifying procurement processes.

By mutually recognising each other’s schemes, suppliers benefit from only needing to complete one assessment, while buyers enjoy more efficient procurement processes.

You can only achieve SSIP certification alongside ISO 45001 certification.

14001:2015

ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard for environmental management. It provides a framework for organisations to design and implement an EMS, and continually improve their environmental performance.

ISO 14001 certification provides a framework to help your organisation to take proactive measures to minimize your environmental footprint, make a commitment to regulatory compliance, and achieve  environmental objectives. The standard includes various aspects, from resource usage and waste management to monitoring environmental performance and involving stakeholders in environmental commitments.

Certification to ISO 14001 can result in tangible benefits, such as reduced waste, energy conservation, and cost savings. It will also enhance an organisation's sustainability reputation, fosters customer and stakeholder trust, and often cprovides a critical step for engaging in global trade and supply chains.

27001:2022

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is the international standard applicable to organisations of any size and from all sectors of activity and provides a framework for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system (ISMS). Data theft, cybercrime and liability for privacy leaks are risks that all organisations need to consider. All organisations need to think strategically about its information security needs, and how they relate to its own objectives, processes, size and structure.

ISO/IEC 27001 certification demonstrates that you organisation has implemented an effective system to identify and manage risks related to the security of data owned or handled by the company. Benefits of certification includes: Reduced vulnerability to the growing threat of cyber-attacks; Identification and quicker response to evolving security risks and ensuring that assets such as financial statements, intellectual property, employee data and information entrusted by third parties remain undamaged, confidential, and available as needed

50001:2018

ISO 50001:2018 is the international standard for Energy Management providing organisations with a framework for optimising energy efficiency in public and private sector organisations.

The standard requires organisation to develop and implement an energy policy, set achievable targets for energy use, gather data to better understand and make decisions concerning energy use and design action plans to reach targets for energy use and measure progress. This might include implementing new energy-efficient technologies, reducing energy waste or improving current processes to cut energy costs or simply making better use of its energy-intensive assets.

The benefit of certification ultimately is improved energy performance which can in turn provide rapid benefits for an organisation by maximising its use of energy sources and energy-related assets, reducing both cost and consumption.

ISO 50001 certification also provides organisations with an opportunity to use it as an ESOS compliance route. Note: It is too late to work towards ISO 50001 certification for Phase 3 compliance – but it isn’t too early for Phase 4. It is likely that the Phase 4 guidelines will require that ISO 50001 accredited certification is to be to be valid on the Phase 4 compliance date, probably in December 2027.
